Free where it runs on your machine. Paid where it runs on ours.

The CLI, the local MCP server and everything in the open-source repo are free and never limited. Plans only cover the hosted cloud, which costs us servers and bandwidth.

Open source: free, forever

MIT license. glot translate, check, fit, i18nize, the validator, the lockfile and the local MCP server run on your machine with your own LLM key. No account, no quota, no feature held back for a paid plan.

Questions

Is anything in the open-source tool limited?
No. Quotas only apply to requests served by glot cloud. The CLI, the local MCP server and the GitHub Action never call the billing system.
Do I pay for translations?
With your own LLM key, you pay your provider directly and glot counts nothing. Without a key, the cloud can use glot's key: each plan includes a monthly amount, and monthly plans can continue with usage-based billing.
Can I self-host the cloud features?
Yes. The server is in the same MIT repository. Without Stripe keys, billing is off and every limit is lifted.
What happens when I reach a quota?
The cloud endpoint answers 402 with a message and an upgrade link; your shipped catalogs keep working from your repository. Quotas reset on the 1st of each month (UTC).
Invoices and VAT?
Payments, invoices and VAT are handled by Stripe. Invoices are in your billing settings; business customers can add a VAT number at checkout.
